Homework Apps

Our family has settled into a routine now that the kids are back to school. Of course, back to school means nightly homework. My seventh grader has taken over my kitchen table conducting a science experiment using eggs and white vinegar. My third grader has multiplication tests and daily homework assignments (goodbye weekly homework packets).

Here are two free iTunes apps we have found helpful:
1. Math Drills Lite by Instant Interactive is a great math app for studying multiplication tables. It also has customizable math drills for addition, subtraction and division.
2. iFormulas by Brendan Winter is another math app. It is a reference guide with formulas for algebra, calculus, geometry and trigonometry. iFormulas is a terrific study aid for middle and high school students.

Good luck on your homework assignments!

Portrait of Family Bicycles - part 2

As promised, here are photos of mommy and daddy's (mine & husband's) bicycles. My Trek Allant WSD is the 2010 model. I bought my Trek Allant WSD for $449 at my local bike shop. Daddy rides a 25 year old vintage Huffy Good Vibrations cruiser. The Huffy was his college bicycle that he's grown attached to over the years. We've had so much fun biking together as a family. If you are thinking of jumping in the saddle, I highly recommend it. Happy riding.

Portrait of Family Bicycles - part 1

Biking has quickly become our favorite family hobby. My kids have fun riding bicycles because their bicycles are easy to ride. I've included kids' bikes in this post and will post adult bike photos next. A family that rides together stays together.

Nintendo Wii Summer Games 2010

This Labor Day Weekend we travelled by bicycle to the Nintendo Wii Summer Games Tournament in Redondo Beach, California. It is a free event sponsored by Nintendo. A good time for all ages. We stayed and played the whole day. Here are my photos:
