Roller Skates of America store

Now that we are riding bikes together as a family, I invited my sister to join us. My sis said yes, but she prefers roller skates to bicycles. Last weekend she went shopping for roller skates and happened upon a great little store in Lawndale, California. It's called Roller Skates of America. The shop won me over when I spotted the exact pair of skates from my childhood on display. My sister ended up buying a pair of chic black roller skates with outdoor wheels. I can't wait for her to join us on our family bike rides (albeit with 8 wheels versus 2). Here are some photos of the Roller Skates of America shop in downtown Lawndale.

My New Bicycle

I am so excited about my new Trek Allant WSD bicycle. Now that my son can ride a bike, we've been biking together as a family. I forgot how much fun riding a bike can be. It makes me feel like a kid again. Please excuse my bike porn. This isn't my first post about bicycles and it won't be my last.

Summer Obon Season 2010

I am Japanese American and every summer local Japanese Buddhist churches hold their Obon/Bon Odori Festivals. Obon is a Japanese Buddhist tradition to honor deceased ancestors. It is the Japanese equivalent to the Mexican Day of the Dead. In the US, Obon Festivals include Japanese folk dancing, food and carnival games for kids. Obon Festivals are held in New York City, Northern and Southern California, Hawaii, Nevada, Utah, and Oregon. Here are my Obon photos:
