Aloha from Honolulu, Hawaii. I visited the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet and Marketplace during my vacation. This is one of the best swap meets/flea markets in the US. The Aloha Stadium Swap Meet is held on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Check out my photos:
10 Unconventional Films for Father's Day
Father's Day is Sunday and I wanted to highlight some overlooked films with complex characters/fathers. The Godfather and Finding Nemo are two of the best, but here's my unconventional list of films for Dad's Day:
1. The Bicycle Thief by Vittorio De Sica
Great Italian classic about a father, his son and the search for a bicycle.
2. Taken by Pierre Morel
Liam Neeson stars in this action film about a father trying to save his daughter from sex slavery.
3. Late Spring by Yasujiro Ozu
One of the best films by Japanese director Yasujiro Ozu about love, duty and familial sacrifice.
4. Eat Drink Man Woman by Ang Lee
Comedy about a master chef who adheres to Chinese traditions while his adult daughters assert their independence.
5. My Architect: A Son's Journey by Nathaniel Kahn
Documentary about American architect Louis Kahn by his son.
6. Tell Them Who You Are by Mark Wexler
Documentary about American cinematographer Haskell Wexler by his son.
7. The Empire Strikes Back by George Lucas
Darth Vader is a dad.
8. The Great Santini by Lewis John Carlino
Robert Duvall stars as an abusive military dad raising his kids the only way he knows how.
9. At Close Range by James Foley
Christopher Walken stars as the father from hell in this drama about a crime family set in rural Pennsylvania. Also stars a young Sean Penn and the late Chris Penn in an unforgettable performance.
